Biography

Edward A. Buchanan is a licensed attorney with over 15 years of experience in Florida, serving clients across a diverse range of legal matters. Fluent in both English and Spanish, Edward is a dedicated historian and legal philosopher who brings a unique perspective to his practice, resolving complex legal disputes and questions of law by looking towards the common law roots and principles behind the law. Edward spent his early years growing up in Miami and was a standout scholar athlete at Belen Jesuit High School. His love for humanities started at a young age where he was the lead singer of the school band and acted in school plays. Edward obtained his Bachelor’s degree from Florida International University. He graduated cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law in 2009. In law school he received three CALI Excellence of the Future awards which are given to the highest performing student in each course being: Civil Procedure, Trial Advocacy and Latin American Contracts. He was selected to participate in the Miami-Leipzig Seminar Program and represented the University of Miami in legal and scholarly debates in Europe.

Edward began his career as In-House Counsel for The Corpag Group in Curaçao, where he managed business entities and provided compliance solutions related to banking and financial transactions. Since 2011, he has operated as a Sole Practitioner in Jupiter and Miami, focusing on business transactions, real estate, general litigation, and jury trials. Edward also founded the law firm Buchanan Davila in Colombia, South America which he stepped down from in 2021. During his tenure he served as the lead attorney on several large development projects in Latin America including sewage and drain pipe installation projects for the city of Panama and for a project valued over $100 million involving the renovation of Puente De Las Americas in Panama, the bridge which connects South America to North America also advised governments on the implementation of power generation, highway concession and rail projects in Ecuador, Bolivia, Chile and Colombia.

Edward has successfully represented clients in high-stakes cases, achieving notable outcomes in various legal arenas throughout his career. His recent pro bono work in In Re Estate of Torres resulted in the revocation of a wrongful probate order, ensuring that his client, an orphan, received his rightful inheritance. He also secured a landmark jury verdict in Grenier v. Barrera, obtaining a sale price significantly higher than the original contract for his client.

A member of the American Inns of Court, Palm Beach County (Barnard) Chapter, Edward is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and ethics in the legal field. His commitment to justice is evident in his extensive pro bono work and advocacy for vulnerable clients. As an example, he served as Treasurer for several years to the Miami Catholic Lawyers’ Guild.

In addition to his legal practice, Edward is actively involved in continuing legal education and mentorship, fostering the next generation of legal professionals. He holds licenses in multiple federal courts, including the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida, as well as the U.S. Tax Court and the Department of Justice's Executive Office for Immigration Review. His current hobbies include photography and vegan cooking along with raising his two teenage children Michael and Isabella. He is also a certified world traveler and has been able to travel to 75 countries and counting in an attempt to capture as much of the world as possible through his lens and learn new recipes to bring back home so he educate and entertain his friends and family about the diverse culinary cultures and customs he experiences.
